Where to start?
Current Plastic Trash projects on the go include some tracks with Manchester based singer Heaton and the still ongoing work with Chloe Poems.
The Heaton work is still in it's early stages, so it's too early to really talk about it. I've heard a snippet of one track and I like where it's going. There are some serious problems with my backing track which need addressing, I'm sure I'll keep you updated as and when...
The 'Rent Boy Rhapsody' EP with Chloe Poems is plodding along slowly, but it's finally getting there. One track is done and dusted - The Cocktail Hour and getting some good feedback from those who have heard it. I've nearly finnished a second track 'Kinky Boy' and it's sounding good. It's taken on a dirty funky disco vibe with heaps of guitar and a big bassline. We just need to re-record the vocals ready for the final mix / mastering. The third track 'No Stranger To Sequins' is getting there. Again I need to re-record the vocals and add some sound FX. I hope to have these finished early on in the new year...
On the Dolly Boy front, I recently finished my first commission - a video for Australian singer / songwriter Virginiaflame. It was made to accompany her track 'Love Will Find U' and was made from re-edited footage from an old promotional film called 'Greenwich Village 1969' (I think...). Although it doesn't follow the theme of the song (the alarming number of youth suicides in Australia), it does match the lyrics, and tells another story. I'm really pleased with the results - and more importantly, so was Virginia!
So what next? I'm going to be doing some more video work for Chloe Poems early on in the new year - basically recording some poems at the Green Room in Manchester - like a live show, but without an audience. I'd also like to make a video for London based singer / songwriter Xanthe, who I worked with on the track Becoming Visible.
On a personal level, I'm looking forward to my first holiday in what will be 15 years! I'm going to Australia for about three weeks in April / May - and I can't wait! For the most part I will be staying with Virginia - just inland from Byron Bay NSW, but I'm also determined to 'do Sydney' and perhaps Melbourne - got some rellies there, so I'll try and sweet talk 'em! I'm sure me video camera will be getting some serious useage.
